Finally, a quiet weekend at home with nothing on the schedule. Time to get some work done around the house, grocery shop, and take care of all that stuff that’s been pushed off the plate due to hectic schedules during summer and early fall.

Saturday K went off on an all-afternoon playdate, so i had a very ‘only in Vermont’ afternoon. I dressed for riding and jumped on my singlespeed to ride down to the village in time for my appointment at the hairdresser. She cut my hair and I told her not to work too hard on the styling as it was soon to be smashed under my helmet again. Only in Vermont, would your hairdresser also be a mountain biker and understand this.

After the haircut I zoomed over to the shop in time to join the late afternoon boy’s ride. I haven’t had many opportunities to ride with the boys this summer. So it was a fun change. Fun for me to be riding well and either keeping them in sight or passing them on (some of) the climbs. Let’s just say that it’s a totally different ballgame than before this year.

Sunday I had planned on a long, relaxing mountain bike ride after we finished some errands. However, our errands turned out far more successful than planned and we returned home with a completely new set of home furnishing. It was far overdue. Our house was at a point where I didn’t feel like we could invite people over unless we knew them really well. The couches were torn and tattered worse than a frat house. The lamp was a bare bulb without a shade. The new furnishings are much more in scale with our little house, and the new lighting will enable us to see. It’s a huge improvement.
