This weekend flew by, I was definitely missing those extra days of vacationland. Luckily there’s a three-day weekend on the way.

On Saturday I changed my the shoes on my cross bike from road to off-road and went out for a road/dirt road ride. Fabulous weather out there. My plan was calling for some tempo and some harder efforts, and I did my best though it felt like maybe I didn’t really do that good of job. Or so I thought.

On Sunday my folks were up for a visit, so George and I went out to ride together. Turns out my legs were smoked. Bleh, I could barely turn over the pedals on the lightest hills. It’s no fun being slow.

It was a super hot day (for VT) so we did a big loop in the Greater Town Loops trails and then headed the back way to climb up Pipeline to Trapp Family Lodge. I was hot and cranky, so yes, I did give a little lecture on trail right-of-ways to the woman headed downhill who did not yield to me in a tight spot.

This trail tops out at the Austrian Tea Room at Trapp Family Lodge. This year they’ve opened a brewery up there. You can roll up, grab a mug of one of their lager style beers and enjoy the view. They also serve some food up there, if you’re hungry as well. On Sunday it was a bit crowded with tourists from Boston and NYC, but somehow we managed to get served, find a quiet spot on the lawn, and enjoy the fine day on tap.
