Sunday turned out to be a beautiful day. Cold in the beginning, but i was confident that things would warm up satisfactorily by the early afternoon.

And I was right.

However, I didn’t figure the day to be quite so convoluted. The dog had to get walked. Flyers for the Gravel Grinder needed to get printed. George had committed to attending the community fair to represent the mountain bike club and their trail building initiatives. Then we had a birthday BBQ to attend.

The community fair was conveniently timed to take up all of the afternoon. My first thought was that the boy could just go and hang out with George and I would slip out and ride and no one would miss me. Not so much. The fair was packed. Many folks were looking for info on the trails and all the local bigwigs and politicians were cruising the floor. It was an hour before I even considered leaving. Another hour until I did leave, and then I had the boy with me.

Needless to say, I could not get my ride done. And it was 33 degrees and sunny. and this totally bummed me out. Because here it is on Monday, 10 degrees and snowing like a blizzard.

at least i had the outside ride on saturday. now i just wish i had used my time more wisely and added another 45 minutes or so to the ride. then i wouldn’t be feeling the guilt that i am now.
