i don’t know what’s going on, but both my rides this weekend felt pretty bad. maybe cause my ride schedule last week got messed up with the long trip to Boston. maybe the new moon doesn’t agree with me. regardless, both days were fairly rough in the way that I just didn’t feel strong.
yesterday i was out on town loops by 7:45 am. had to squeeze my ride in before the shop opened so the little guy didn’t have to spend too much time there. It had rained really early the morning and the temps were super warm (already in the 60′s by 8am) so the humidity was really high. There’s lots of bridges and roots out there, and i was all over the place on them. not that fun. i went out and rode my favorite trail for the first time this season. it was good, but my rhythm was way off.
i also figured out that i think i prefer to ride to the ride as much as possible, instead of driving to the trailhead. even though spinning along the roads on the singlespeed can be annoying, i far prefer being totally warmed up as i get onto the trails. the rest of the world already knows this i’m sure, it’s just not the way we traditionally do things here in VT. but it’s time to change that. it’s okay to ride 30 minutes on the road to start your ride.
this morning i headed out from the house. took the camelback because my front tire wasn’t 100% sure it wanted to hold air yet (just switched out the Intense tires for some Exiwolfs). And the camelback proceeded to leak in a most unpleasant way all down my back. much cooler today and cloudy, so the wet back wasn’t really appreciated. 2.5 hours, definitely not my best. but again it was a damp, snotty day. i ended up running to much pressure in my tires, and they were skittering everywhere. but i didn’t dare take any out in case i totally messed it up again.
looking forward to my rest day tomorrow and getting exactly back on schedule.
