img_0388After Fool’s Gold, after my meetings in Florida, after I made an appearance in the office to meet my new boss, after all that, K and I packed up and drove 5 hours to Bailey Island for our annual Maine trip.

My singlespeed was still in transit back from GA, and I didn’t feel like dealing with the transportation logistics for my full-suspension (front thru-axle), so I just brought the cross bike outfitted with road tires.

Bailey Island is at the end of a 30 mile road from the mainland, so all of my rides followed a fairly similar path. Off Bailey and onto Orr’s Island, off Orr’s and over to Great Island. One day I headed down to Cundy’s Harbor to see what I could see, the other over to Harpswell Penninsula. Basically, the riding was a lot of narrow, shoulder-less island roads in sub-optimal conditions. Surprisingly, there are a lot of hills. Nothing too long, but far more hills than you would think for coastal riding. Lots of forests and plenty of beautiful views of the waters and rocks of Maine.

After three days of road riding though, I was pretty sick of it. My butt hurt from sitting on it so much and i was getting bored of the same terrain. Happy to be home and back on my single tonight for ladies ride.
