yes again, I scored an outside ride.

img_0511The day after Christmas we packed up and headed south to PA to spend some quality time with my parents. It poured rain during our drive down there, the rain taking all the snow to a better place. And Sunday turned out sunny and fair, with highs in the low 40’s. A stiff breeze kept us from feeling too chummy with the weather.

I found a ride in our general neighborhood and downloaded a cue sheet from the Lehigh Wheelmen website. We started a few miles into it, but headed out towards the Trexler Game Preserve for some serious back road miles. The terrain was fun, with punchy and gutsy hills spaced by fast flats. I sorta knew where we were, but kept having to slow down and pull out the cue sheet to figure out our next turn. In the end we needed to head back, and I figured out how to get us back on track to our subdivision. 27 miles in three hours, keeping a steady (map reading) pace.
