My warning to you, if you purchase a Pugsley, or other sort of fat tired bike, you will find it much more difficult to convince yourself to ride the trainer. Particularly if conditions cooperate, as they are this week. No longer will snow or cold temps stymie you in your pursuit of an outdoor bike ride. Not with a fat bike.

In lieu of yoga on Monday, an hour recovery spin on the Stowe Rec Path, soaking up some sunshine.

Tuesday I attempted Town Loops. At first it wasn’t too bad. Well packed and fast, I climbed into the forest with little issue and was having quite a bit of fun on the well tracked out trails. But then I found the ice. Lots and lots of ice.

Anywhere that had seen a lot of foot traffic was a sheet of super slick ice. Conditions were treacherous as best in those areas and I as I continued in my ride I found more and more of it. In the end I felt lucky to get out of there without smashing my head open. Take note, head for elevation if you’re looking for some good terrain right now.
