I’m loving 32:22. Before we went out to Durango I rode 32:20, and it seemed fine. But before riding out there, I put on a bigger cog. It felt right, there wasn’t a whole lot of air in their air and the course was pretty technical. So the easier gear was a good choice.
When my bike came home I wondered how the 22 would feel compared to the 20 that I’ve been running all along. On Perry Hill it didn’t seem to make much difference. There you’re either riding straight up or straight down, a few teeth didn’t make anything more rideable for me. But I’ve taken it on two Stowe rides now, and I’m loving it.
With the 22 I can get a really fast spin going and I’m climbing things faster, flying over the roots and rocks and just having a grand time with it. The 22 is here to stay for a while. It’s an Endless Cog, made in the US and since I got to hang out with Shanna in Durango I’m happy to sport one of their fine products. It replaces a pretty sexy Boone ti cog. I’ll keep that one around, I’m sure it’ll come in handy one of these days.
